Originally from Sarajevo, Valida emigrated to the United States to pursue higher education. Completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in World Arts and Cultures (UCLA), and a Master of Arts degree in Dance Ethnography and Video Production (UCLA), Valida has always been in pursuit of expressing her love for music, dance, and visual arts. In late 2001, after the release of Concentric Beats, her feature documentary “love-letter to the drum’n’bass scene” (URB mag) Valida co-founded what XLR8R Magazine aptly described as “one of the most righteous weekly club spots in town” Proper* at Hollywood’s Star Shoes.
